Still growing strong - Lanark Garden Club's 50th year

At the first meeting of Lanark Garden Club for the 2019 – 2020 season, attendees celebrated 50 years of the club's existence.  Doreen Dixon made two superb cakes to mark the occasion, which were enjoyed by returning and new members. Brian Swaine gave a presentation of past LGC outings which brought back happy memories for all involved.

The meeting was also attended by some of the Royal Burgh of Lanark Community Council Strictly Come Gardening Award winners and committee members and Cllr Catherine McClymont.  The trophies were presented by Andy Morrison and Eleanor McLean.

  • Large garden, winner John Prior, runners up, Armour and Margaret Kenyon
  • Small/medium garden, winners David and Janet Tait, runner up Jacqueline Pryde
  • Courtyard/container garden, winner Drew Towse, runners up Mr and Mrs J Sliman

The next meeting of 'Lanark Garden Club' will be 'Plants to purify air' by Patricia Tucker, on Thursday 24th October, 7.30pm,

at Castlebank Horticulture Centre, St Patricks Road, Lanark.
