Two weeks left in "Over the Rainbow" Creative Competition
“Over the Rainbow” Artwork & Photography Competition
During these difficult times, children around the world have been brightening up their windows and spreading messages of hope with colourful images of rainbows. To continue sharing this positivity, Lanark Community Development Trust and The Tolbooth Trust have worked in partnership to launch the “Over the Rainbow” artwork competition.
The Trusts are calling on professional artists, budding artists and photographers to create rainbow-inspired artworks or photographs using their chosen medium.
There will be two categories:
- Amateur from age 16+ (including Higher Art pupils)
- Professional artists
A selection of entries will be displayed in The Tolbooth Heritage & Arts Centre later in the summer/autumn once we are “over the rainbow” of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Entries to the competition and 'works in progress' can be viewed in this Facebook album.
Further entry details are available in the Terms and Conditions below:
Terms and conditions
The competition is open from now with a closing date of 1st June 2020 at 11.59pm.
To enter the competition, users must email a photograph of their completed artwork to email@example.com and also include the category they are entering, their name, age, hometown and name of the artwork (if relevant) and dimensions of artwork.
The competition is open those living in Clydesdale.
There is no minimum artwork size, however the maximum size is around A2 (420 x 594cm). Artwork can be created on canvas or paper (only artworks selected for the exhibition need to be framed). Entrants may also choose to submit a small tabletop sculpture (Max 30cm tall x 20cm wide) or a collage/mixed media which should adhere to the maximum A2 (420 x 594cm) size.
If submitting a photographic entry, a high resolution version should be available for exhibition printing - should the entry be chosen to be displayed.
Each entrant may submit only one entry.
There will be an ‘overall winner’ chosen from each category who will each win £50 cash. A panel of judges will vote on the winning entries and their decision is final.
The overall winners and around 18 other artworks/photographs will be chosen to be displayed within The Tolbooth’s exhibition. Entrants will have the option to submit their work into a silent auction, with proceeds going to a charity of the artist’s choice. Additional entries may be shown on a digital show reel.
Entrants may also wish to email photos of their ‘work in progress’ to be shared on social media in advance of the closing date, or as part of a digital show reel within the exhibition.
Submitted work must be the entrant’s original, unpublished work which does not breach anyone else’s copyright. Work that has already been sold to another party cannot be submitted. By entering the competition, you confirm this and accept liability for any copyright breaches.
By entering the competition, you give Lanark Community Development Trust and The Tolbooth Trust permission to publish a photograph of your artwork on their websites, social media, in press and in print.
The winner and display entrants may be asked if they wish to be contacted in the future regarding other users of their photographed artwork, for example on postcards or notelets.
