Have your say on Lanark's Active Travel Plan

Lanark Town Centre

If you have an opinion on walking and cycling in Lanark, South Lanarkshire Council wants to hear it.

Active travel surveys focusing on the three communities (Carluke, Hamilton and Lanark) are now under way.

The council wants walking and cycling to be the natural choice, whenever possible, for people to make for their local journeys.

The active travel surveys are part of a wider study aimed at informing plans to make walking and cycling in the area more convenient and attactive for all.

Earlier this year (March/April) the council carried out a survey on travel habits and views regarding the walking and cycling conditions in Carluke, Hamilton and Lanark. The comments and observations collected were used to identify a future cycle network in principle as well as proposed priorities for implementation.

The council is now seeking people’s views on these route proposals before finalising the document and identifying funding to take proposals to the next stage of development.

In response to the changed circumstances of the last few months the short surveys also look at how the current travel restrictions linked to the Covid-19 outbreak have changed and are likely to change individual travel habits in and around the three towns.

The survey can be found using the following link where you will also be directed to the draft report.

If you would like more information about the study, please contact Alexandra Tolson on 01698 455148. The survey will be open until Sunday 4 October 2020.
