The Great Tapestry of Scotland is the product of one of the country's biggest ever community arts projects. Spearheaded by author Alexander McCall Smith, historian Alistair Moffat, artist Andrew Crummy and stitch co-ordinator Dorie Wilkie, the project involved over 1,000 stitchers from every corner of Scotland working to produce the world's longest embroidered artwork. Over 300 miles of woollen yarn was stitched by hand to create 160 panels that tell the stories of Scotland's past, it's all there from the forming of the land to the Hillman Imp and Dolly the Sheep
