Eunice Clarke was born and still lives in South Lanarkshire, Scotland. Her love of 'the great outdoors’ led to a change in career to become a professional photographer. She has a love and respect for this great country and hopes that her images can inspire people to go and see for themselves and also give those that are less able to travel an impression of its beauty and drama. Her passion for adventure has taken her to many countries, always returning with images that have recorded magical moments in time.

The Quaker Tapestry
Tuesday 11th - Saturday 29th August, Institute
Some of Robert Owen’s partners were Quakers and in a perfect link, we are delighted to be displaying the Quaker Tapestry this summer. The tapestry tells of Quaker events and insights and is a celebration of the significant contribution these quiet, non-conformists have made to the modern world. Over 4,000 men, women and children in 15 countries ‘had a hand’ in the creation of the panels which form the tapestry.

Join SLLC and a host of local partners in a morning of racing and family fun!

On Sunday 9th August SLLC will host a morning of racing and family fun at Lanark Racecourse from 9am - 1pm (approx).

5k Family Fun Run
This event will be a fabulous starter event for juniors, families and new runners alike... walk, run or jog...it’s up to you!

When we asked the local community what they would like the event to include we had countless requests for a fancy dress theme! We then took to the local primary schools and asked the children to vote for which theme they would prefer out of five and the winner (by a huge number of votes) was.....BEACH PARTY!!!

Fancy dress is of course optional but if you have a grass skirt or Hawaiian shirt, why not look it out and join in with the fun.  There will be prizes on the day for the best dressed.

The route for this race incorporates Lanark racecourse and Lanark Loch.

Start time 10.45am

10k Trail Race
The 10k race will be perfect for our more serious runners and those looking to push themselves that little bit further.

Similar to the 5k race, this too will incorporate the racecourse & loch as well as taking runners through the Lanark Moor Cycle Track and out to loop around the Old Smyllum House

Start time 10.30am

3k Junior Duo Race
An extra activity for the day for the Under 16’s. The exciting off road duathlon event will see participants competing in a 500m run, 2k bike, 500m. The route will be around the racecourse & the Lanark Moor Cycle Track.

Start time 12noon

Entry and Registration
Entry for all events will open on Thursday 7 May.

01555 667 999 The Tommy Cooper Show more

Featuring West End and Blood Brothers star Daniel Taylor as Tommy Cooper, the Tommy Cooper Show provides the knockout performance of the year. The show comes with a fabulous supporting cast of Gareth Jones (formerly Gaz Top) as Miff Ferrie and Sharon Byatt as Gwen Cooper…and all of your favourite jokes. Between the story, the gags, the magic and Daniel’s incredible portrayal of showbusiness legend Tommy Cooper, this promises to be a very special show.

'The true impact of The Tommy Cooper Show is best gauged by the ovation of an audience who have spent the duration of the show utterly entranced by this portrayal and laughing along as if the great man was actually present in the room with us.' Dave Jennings, British Theatre Guide - January 2015

‘This is no mere impersonation.  Taylor has nailed Cooper.  He has brought him back to life’ Paul Levy, Fringe Review Edinburgh 2014

The evening will include a mix of Jazz and Blues songs as well as popular songs from their best-known albums.

Paul Jones, with his unique harmonica sound, will be joined by Mike Hugg on keyboards, Tom McGuinness on lead guitar, Rob Townsend on drums, Marcus Cliffe on bass guitar and Simon Currie on saxophone/ flute. Each member is an excellent musician in their own right and will provide a full evening of entertainment...with some solo work, and a few surprise renditions of The Manfreds classic songs!
