Discover Lanark is thrilled to unveil a fantastic programme of events set to bring colour, creativity and community spirit to Lanark town centre and beyond this year. From lively markets and family activities to medieval adventures and even roaming dinosaurs, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Monthly Markets Return to Lanark Town Centre
Our much-loved markets will now take place monthly from spring through early autumn, held on the second Saturday of each month in Hunter’s Close Car Park. Expect around 30 talented producers and makers offering everything from handmade gifts and arts and crafts to delicious local treats — perfect for browsing, shopping, and supporting local businesses.
While the markets are in full swing, families can head to the High Street outside the Tolbooth, where Discover Lanark will host free children’s activities in the newly created safe outdoor space. Giant games, creative making activities, and plenty of fun await — all completely free, so why not make a day of it?
Step Back in Time at the Medieval Celebration
Back by popular demand, Lanark Medieval Celebration returns on Saturday 25 April. Prepare for a spectacular journey into the past with combat demonstrations, living history displays, and vibrant medieval sights and sounds.
There’s plenty for younger visitors too — including the ever-popular “Fight A Knight,” face painting, and hands-on craft activities. Visitors can also explore Wallace House to admire the striking Wallace Murals by Rogue-One and enjoy a fascinating exhibition of medieval life and combat in the Tolbooth.
More Themed Days to Enjoy
Mark your calendars for additional special events throughout the year:
Each promises its own unique atmosphere and attractions, helping keep Lanark buzzing with activity.
Jurassic Lanark Roars Back This Summer
It wouldn’t be summer in Lanark without dinosaurs! Jurassic Lanark returns from Friday 19 June to Sunday 9 August with even more prehistoric excitement.
Alongside the popular Monster Trail in the town centre and Castlebank Park, and our Mini Shop Window Trail, this year introduces the brand-new Explorer Trail. Adventurers can venture beyond the town centre to spot dinosaurs at Langloch Farm, Lanark Agricultural Centre, New Lanark World Heritage Site, and the Falls of Clyde.
Best of all, Jurassic Lanark is completely free — and with several weeks to enjoy it, there’s plenty of time to explore at your own pace.
With so much happening, 2026 is shaping up to be a vibrant year for Lanark. Whether you’re shopping local, stepping back in history, enjoying family activities, or hunting dinosaurs, Discover Lanark invites everyone to come along, get involved, and celebrate together.
