Local young writer wins annual Rotary competition

News

Siobhan Downie, a pupil at Lanark Grammar School, has won the Intermediate Young Writer Competition organised by The Rotary Club of Lanark. The theme this year was “My Happiest Day”, and Siobhan’s entry was a poem about Autumn.

This annual competition always attracts a volume of entrants and the club is grateful to the school for its continuing support in facilitating pupils’ participation.

Given the difficulties over the year, the children’s entries were uplifting and showed what pleasure they were still able to derive from the world around them.
