Lanark, one of the oldest royal burghs in Scotland, has been a centre for human activity since Mesolithic hunters arrived in the area around 6.500 B.C. From that point until present times Lanark has undergone and been witness to many interesting events and been home to individuals who not only were well known locally but became well regarded in the wider world.
